KIND OFF MACHINERY oON BOARD

Diesel engines having different ships with Diesel Engines used on land (conventional). Why to serve the operational, maintenance and repair - minor repairs engines - diesel engines need to engineer a special ship, the Engineer, there is a level D3 (ATT III), S1 (ATT II), and even there an equivalent to S2 (ATT I / M, Mar Eng). While the engine - diesel engine in mainland adequately served by graduates of vocational s / d D3 Machinery only. The working principle of diesel engines both on land and on the ship - the same ship, there is no difference.

Material ship diesel engines
Material ship diesel engines (Marine engine) made more resilient than on a machine - a machine that is on land, so as not prone to damage / loss when in contact with sea water has a high salt content and contain elements - mineral elements and other destructive marine biota. To anticipate things - things that way, then do the action - the action on diesel engines as follows:

  •  Perform installation "Anti Faulant", Zinc Anodes sea chest in sea water in and on the cooler to prevent rotten material.
  •  Install system Alkytrimethylene Diamenes dose, a liquid Anti Corrosive Liquid faulant Marine Basic Organic Chemical, before distribution of sea water sea chest to using While diesel engines on the ground have never done it - things like this
Operational ship diesel engines
During operation (engine running), the diesel engine land just got the vibe of the machine itself (internal vibration), never received a vibration from the outside (external vibration), except in the event of an earthquake. Not so with Marine engines, in addition to the machine itself gets vibration, engine - diesel ship engines also get vibration resistance from the outside, as the shock of the hull are exposed to ocean waves. Brunt of the waves against the hull so terrible could make the engine run dip to about 60 degrees. When this happens it can cause engine experience, as follows:
  •  Lubricating oil pressure will experience a void (empty), when this happens, the pressure lub. oil will decline (low pressure) because pump not suck oil is sucked wind, the engine will die suddenly (Shutdown immediately), or the machine was badly damaged (break down). To anticipate things - things like this, so when design engineering, marine engine fitted two lubticating oil suction pipe in front and behind somewhat right, or left engine lub oil carter. So when the ship's engine had any inclination towards any luricating and how many degrees will still be sucked up by the oil pump lubricating oil while the engine - engine lubricating oil suction pipe ashore just one alone.
  •  ship stern lifted, so that the propeller free from the pressure of sea water, the logic will be more rounds (over speed) on the machine holding the ship, or it could be a damage (break down). But it has been anticipated by the designer Marine engines by installing a safety Governoor, so that the engine is constantly adapting to the circumstances at that time. This tool known as the "Over Speed Trip". On the machine - the machine is not equipped with ground equipment.
  •  Ship engine placement and arrangement (Arrange & install)Installation and placement of machines in the ground is very simple and straightforward. Create a solid foundation machines, flat, plug engine mounting for marinade shakes, when the engine is operating. Install, cooling system exhause gas system, On / Off system, using wind Penjalan or battery. Alignment with the needs of usage, whether for power or other, has been finished. At the time of construction of the ship, the most difficult and caution is the manufacture of ship machinery foundations, especially ship main engine, is not quite flat, but must account for all associated with the ship's engine. Must take into account the gravity ship, alignment with the gear box, propulsion, a moment - a moment that will likely occur while the vessel was in operation, and control of the ship's machinery to manouvering needs. Moreover, if the vessel uses two engines (twin engine). This is all not including, the operation, maintenance and repair, if the vessel has to be used according to its function. So, it was natural that engineer - engineer ship there an equivalent to S2
Types of machinery on board
To be able to move the ship and sail boats pengerak required power. Various forms of propulsion such as paddle boats, sails, ship diesel engines, steam engines and even nuclear power use. The use of diesel ranks first for further commercial vessels use steam engines are preferred for ships - very large ship like a super tanker and super cargo. The use of diesel engines in ships is preferred because it is more practical in operational, preparing to turn the main engine only needed about one hour, while for the steam engine need no less than four hours.A ship propulsion diesel engines, usually include motor vessel MV (motor boats), MS (motor ship), MV (Motor Vessel) before the name of the ship, while ships with steam propulsion engine includes boiler (steamboat), SS (steam ship) before showing the name of the ship. For this type of machine - a machine that contained disebuah ship is divided into 3 groups:
  • Main Engine.Ship engine that serves as the driving force of the ship, this machine will charge to move the propeller / propeller which in turn pushes the water vessel and the vessel moving forward or backward.Premises of the ship propeller has only one main engine while the vessel having two or twin screw propellers driven by two main engines.
  • Generator setOr any other name Motor Assist is a machine that serves as a power plant. Auxiliary motor size smaller than the motor carrier. In a ship there are more than one auxiary engine that each - each function drive the generator. generator will generate electric current, will be used for lighting and power supply for the aircraft other auxiliary aircraft. When the ship docked didermaga the ship diesel engines can also be used to shaking machine for crane / unloading equipment.
  • Auxiliary aircraft / ship aids.Auxiliary aircraft / ship is kind of a tool engine onboard that serves as a means of supporting the principal in the operation of the ship. By default / common for a ship to be found the type - the type of aircraft Auxiliary are:
    • Air Compressor / Air Compressor function is to turn the diesel motors / auxilary engine since most machines can only be turned on by using the power / air pressure.
    • cooling water pump / Cooling water pump There are two types, closed cooling fresh water pump is a pump that circulates fresh water cooling of the motor next to the cooler to get back to the motor, while the sea water cooling pump is a pump that incorporate open sea water into the cooler which then flows back to the sea.
    •  ship ballast pump / Ballast pumps pump the seawater used to pump sea water into / onto the curved tank - ship ballast tanks.
    •  Pump sanitary / Sanitary pump that pumps sea water / freshwater to meet the need of fresh water for cooling water boat engines, and other necessities such as kitchen, bathroom, WC and so on.
    •  Bilge pumps pump the condensate to collect water / sewer water which is then discarded overboard.
    •  Public Service Pump Pumps are used to replace the function of cooling sea water pump, ballast pump or drain pump.
    •  fuel transfer pump is used to move fuel from tank to tank creep Bottom settling into the daily tanks and bunkers for preparations and for the regulation of vessel stability.
    •  Separator or separation There are 2 types, namely, to separate water purifier with clearifier to separate oil and other goods carried in the oil.
    •  Auxiliary Boiler / Donkey Boiler used to produce steam to heat the fuel before entering into steam ship engine can be used for cooking, heating water for bathing and heating air condition.
    •  The machine leaves the steering wheel to move left / right or to maintain it at the desired position.
    •  Engine anchor / anchor winch used to raise / heave up anchor ship when the ship will sail.
    •  Winch / Crane for tools B / M Functions for stevedoring equipment when the ship docked in the dock.

Parts of the machine that is not moving

As per my appointment on the post earlier in this post we will discuss the parts that do not move the machine where the parts are as follows

                                                      Cylinder Head

Cylinder liner

Cylinder Block  types of parallel

 Cylinder Block "V" Type

Similarly, our knowledge about the parts of the engine and on the other occasion the next post we will discuss more in detail about both the machine and how to care, repair, and constraint and a common problem I have ever experienced

Moving parts of the engine

in modern times the average ship was powered by an engine for that we seafarers working on board must have at least a little knowledge of machinery for the sailors in general and more specifically a requirement for officers and our good engine. for our early stage we know the engine first divided into two parts, namely the engine moving parts and unmoving parts

 Piston

Rockr Arm

Valve

Crankshaft
so used for the discussion of moving parts in the engine the next post I will discuss the engine is not moving
